9-week cycle

Cooldown

Concept

Historically we found that we took certain decisions that might have been a shortcut during the 6-weeks-project in order to validate ideas or manage to ship a version to end-users. The cooldown acts as a window to catch up on things like that, but it is also an opportunity for the teams to host larger workshops on matters that were discovered during the 6-weeks-project or do minor “spikes” in preparation for the upcoming 6-weeks-project.

The Cooldown ends with Freaky Fhursday, a two-day-long Freaky where both the Development and Product Team dive into whatever interests them.

Ceremonies

Freaky Fhursday

Freaky Fhursday originates from "Freaky Friday" and is held Thursday and Friday during the Cooldown. It is a time when we step out of the day-to-day tasks and try out new things that we find interesting.

Spikes

There are many times when we are about to approach a new project that we need to make technichal strategic decisions. It is often on a theoretical level and it is not uncommon that there are many unknowns. One way to mitigate some unknowns is to do a spike. A spike moves us from theory to a practical test, although often isolated in a smaller way and constrained in time.
